I have designed, laser cut, coloured and embossed vegetable tanned kangaroo leather to make this piece.
This simple wallet is designed to be stitchless. It has been hand stained bright rose pink on the inside, with a red and pink splatter on the outside.
It can carry coins, cash notes, up to 16 cards and 4 house keys. With fewer cards or no keys there is room enough for a chapstick.
After applying the stain and embossing, I use a carnauba and shea butter conditioner and manually buff to a soft sheen. These ingredients soften the leather, and the buffed wax provides some water resistance.
With the intent of opening up the option to recycle and repurpose all components used (in the far future), the stitchless design can be unfolded flat and the button stud removed.
Dimensions are 8cm high x 10.5cm wide x 1.5cm deep.

Oils and UV exposure will darken vegetable tanned leathers to a deep honey gold over time. This will occur beneath hand applied stains, gradually shifting colours to a warmer tone. After some time of handling and daily use, vegetable tanned leathers' surface grain will burnish and compress to a more resilient finish. However, as it is absorbent, you may use an additional weather resistant spray (such as Waproo) for further protection of a piece's appearance.
